The Community Withdrawal Support Service (CWSS) offers an alternative to residential withdrawal management for individuals who can safely withdraw from alcohol and/or other drugs in a safe and supportive community environment. CWSS provides voluntary support services to clients who are 18 years and older. Services include screening and assessing suitability for withdrawal in a community setting, and supporting people to prepare, plan for and complete community-based withdrawal. Services also include consultation and capacity building to referring agencies and primary care providers; education and support to family members/significant others; and referrals to other programs/services for treatment and relapse prevention.
